15. Lower Pearl Street
76-82 Pearl Street
If you look to the west at Pearl Street, you'll see a group of three brick buildings slung together, beginning with the Pearl Street Grill on the corner. Each building stands four stories tall and is typical of Buffalo architecture in the mid-19th century, before the Civil War. Thethree buildings have either Greek Revial lintels over the windows, as on the Pearl Street Grill, or Italianate style rounded arch windows. Upon closer inspection, note that the first two buildings retain authentic examples of four-over-four double hung windows, common at the time. The middle building has cast iron fluted or ridged Cornithian pilasters. The last building, at 82 Pearl Street, is the most ornate, with cast iron fluted Corinthian columns and fancier modillions, or brackets, supporting the cornice.
